The Kenya U17 national team, Junior Starlets, are on the brink of a historic achievement as they stand just 90 minutes away from qualifying for the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

This follows their convincing 3-0 victory over Burundi in the first leg of the final qualification round, played away at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.

The youngster's goal not only energized the team but also silenced the home crowd giving the Junior Starlets a crucial lead early in the game.

Marion Serenge doubled the advantage just before the halftime whistle, scoring in the 43rd minute to solidify Kenya’s dominance with a 2-0 lead.

As the second half unfolded Susan Okoth sealed the deal in the 71st minute effectively putting the match beyond Burundi's reach and placing Kenya one step closer to the World Cup dream.

This goal not only secured a comfortable lead for the return leg but also showcased the tactical precision of the Junior Starlets under pressure.

The road to this point has been challenging yet inspiring as in the previous round, Kenya defeated Ethiopia with an aggregate score of 3-0.

The return leg, scheduled for June 16, 2024, promises to be a monumental occasion for Kenyan football.

Should the Junior Starlets maintain their lead on aggregate, they will book their ticket to the World Cup in the Dominican Republic this October.
